The payment terminal
More explicitly, the payment terminal is an electronic device that has been specially designed to quickly and efficiently collect payments made by credit card. With the advent of the Internet and digital technology, which has made it possible to automate all the activities of human daily life, the VSE thus occupies a prominent place.
The payment terminal consists of a plastic case, a screen, a keyboard and a card reader. It is essentially this set of devices that allows it to read credit cards and make payments. In addition, the POS terminal can also be connected to a check reader to read a check.
More advancedly, the use of the Eftpos terminal consists in sending payment requests to the bank of the bank card. The latter will therefore be responsible for validating the payment request from the BC, and for the payment. As such, the POS terminal is an excellent solution for securing transactions.

How it works
Indeed, the payment terminal allows you to make payments by credit card in a completely digital and secure way. Its operation links 4 different parties in order to validate a payment, including the cardholder, the merchant, the merchant’s bank and the cardholder’s bank.
The steps of a transaction via a POS terminal
The various fundamental steps in the operation of a payment terminal are among others:
1- The merchant enters the amount of the transaction on the POS terminal
2- The customer inserts his bank card into the Eftpos terminal’s card reader
3- Some checks will be made on the credit card from the owner’s bank, then a password request appears on the screen
4- The customer enters his password, then validates
5- A request for authorization will then be sent to the merchant’s bank
6- In case of a reply from the bank, the transaction is then successfully completed
7- Two tickets will then be printed for the merchant and the customer as proof of transaction.
It is possible to identify any POS terminal from its ITP (Payment Terminal Identifier). This one is composed of 12 characters. Each information occupies 3 places among the 12 characters.
